Less is More

We’ve all heard the phrase less is more, but do we truly live by it? Learning to say no is just as important as knowing when to say yes—because if you take on more than what you're called to, you’ll end up stretched thin and ineffective. But when you focus on doing what God has called you to do—and do it well—your impact will be far greater than trying to do everything.

Less is more. Focus on your calling. Whether it's in the church, your business, or any other part of life, stay in your lane and give it your best. That’s where the real blessing comes.

Take this example: I recently saw a website designed by Tom. He did an incredible job—something I could never do. But instead of struggling to do it myself, I simply connected with him, and my “less” became “more.” What was effortless for him would have been overwhelming for me. That’s the power of connection. That’s the beauty of the body of Christ.

We don’t have to do it all. We just need to recognize the right relationships and embrace them. I don’t have to say yes to everything—I just need to be in tune with the right people, the right assignments, and the right timing.

After years in ministry, I’m still learning this at a deeper level. I used to think I had it figured out, but I now realize there’s always another level of growth. Maybe you feel the same way—looking back, thinking, I could have done things differently. And you know what? You’re probably right. But instead of dwelling on yesterday, make the change today. You can’t fix the past, but you can shape the future.

Know your yeses and no’s. Know when it's time to step up and when it's time to step back. Learn when you've received enough input and when it's time to shift your focus.

Now, let me be clear—I’m not saying you should stop learning or disconnect from people. What I am saying is this: Seek God. Seek His Word. Let Him guide you in what to say yes to and what to walk away from. That’s where real empowerment comes.

Recently, I’ve had to say no to many things. I’ve even unfollowed some great people on social media—not because they’re bad, but because right now, it’s not my season to take in everything. Being constantly occupied isn’t healthy.

Are we truly hearing from God for ourselves, or are we just absorbing everyone else’s voices?

God calls us to be rooted. It’s okay to stretch beyond that, but know your limits. Even good things can become overwhelming if we don’t know when to say no. When we take on too much, our minds spin, our spirits get exhausted, and we lose focus.

So today, I encourage you: Seek God. Listen well. Know your yeses and your no’s. That’s where real growth, peace, and purpose are found. Amen!
