Help Me With My Unbelief
Faith is powerful, but sometimes we need to be honest with God about our struggles. The Bible tells the story of a man who cried out, "Lord, help me with my unbelief." What a powerful prayer. He recognized that part of his struggle wasn't God's ability—it was his own difficulty in fully trusting. Some of us need to pray that same prayer today.
"Lord, help me with my unbelief."
When that man asked for help, he received what he was believing for. Sometimes unbelief gets in the way of trusting God. It becomes a spiritual barrier that keeps us from fully embracing His promises.
How does unbelief develop? Often, it comes through influence. Someone speaks negatively into our lives. We live with a problem for so long that we begin to accept it as permanent. We experience a lack for an extended season, and eventually we stop expecting abreakthrough. Little by little, our confidence in God's promises begins to weaken. But today is a day to return to trust. If that's you, don't be afraid to say it out loud:
"Lord, help me with my unbelief."
It doesn't matter what people say. It doesn't matter what negative voices have spoken over your life. Trust in the Lord. Rise up in faith and trust Him on a whole new level.
What Should I Be Afraid Of?
Why should I be afraid? If God is with me, I have nothing to fear. So often we become fearful of things we were never meant to fear. We worry about circumstances, opinions, criticism, and uncertainty. Yet God calls us to walk confidently in His promises.
Psalm 56:4 declares:
"In God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"Â
What can people do to me if I trust in God? What can criticism do to me if I trust in God? What can fear do to me if I trust in God?
Â
I am a soft-hearted person. Negative comments can affect me. There have been times when I have had to bring those hurts before the Lord and ask, "What can these words really do to me if I trust You?
The answer is simple: nothing. If my trust is anchored in God, then criticism cannot stop me. Persecution cannot stop me. The opinions of others cannot stop me. I do not need to be afraid of being His son or walking in the calling He has placed on my life. God has promised to be faithful. Therefore, I trust Him, and I do not need to fear.
Get Back Up
The Bible tells us not to be anxious about anything. I speak from experience because I know what anxiety feels like. Many of you do too. There are moments when we make mistakes. There are moments when we miss the mark. Sometimes our own decisions contribute to our anxiety.
But even then, God is still calling us forward. When we fall, we don't stay down. We get back up. We come before the Lord and say: "Father, I repent for where I missed it. I repent for my mistakes. But I am not giving up." Some of you need to declare that today:
"I am not giving up. I am getting back up."
The enemy wants you to quit. God is calling you to rise again.
Trust God With What You Have
Did you know you can thrive with very little? You don't need abundance before God can use you. You don't need to have everything figured out before He begins to bless your life. Think about the miracle of the loaves and fish. Jesus took what seemed insignificant and multiplied it. Sometimes our prayer needs to be: "Lord, teach me how to use what I already have." Teach me how to steward my gifts. Teach me how to steward my finances. Teach me how to steward my opportunities. Teach me how to invest the little so it can become much.
Instead of focusing on what we lack, we should focus on what God has already placed in our hands. What do you have today? Are you being obedient with it? Can you place it before the Lord and ask Him to multiply it? God often begins with what is already in our possession.
Contentment Is Trust
One of the greatest expressions of trust is contentment. Contentment doesn't mean a lack of vision or ambition. It means trusting God with today's provision while believing Him for tomorrow's promises. We don't need everything right now. We don't need a constant stream of new things to satisfy us. We simply need to trust God with what He has already given us.
When we become content in Him, peace begins to replace anxiety.
Turning Worry Into Prayer
Anxiety never produces peace. Worry never creates solutions. In reality, worry often reveals an area where trust still needs to grow. Whenever fear rises, we must learn to transfer our worry into prayer. Instead of carrying the burden ourselves, we bring it before the Lord.
Philippians teaches us that when we bring everything to God through prayer and thanksgiving, His peace guards our hearts and minds. That's the promise. When I trust God enough to pray instead of worry, peace begins to fill the place where anxiety once lived.
Trust Removes Fear
As we walk in trust, fear begins to lose its grip. Anxiety loses its grip. Worry loses its grip. We bring everything before the Lord and say: "Father, bless what You have given me. Teach me to be a faithful steward. Help me handle what is already in my hands so that I can be trusted with more."
We are all growing in different areas. Some may be mature spiritually but still learning financial stewardship. Others may be developing in leadership, relationships, or faith. The key is to remain faithful with what God has entrusted to us today.
Trust Christ First
Ephesians reminds us: "That we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory."
There is a pathway into God's promises. There is a pathway into our inheritance. There is a pathway into what God has predestined for us. And that pathway begins with trust. We must trust Christ first. As we trust Him, He leads us into purpose, maturity, discipleship, and growth. Yes, there will be mistakes along the way. Yes, there will be lessons to learn. But through it all, we continue walking forward.
Today, choose trust over fear. Choose faith over unbelief. Choose prayer over anxiety. Choose contentment over striving. And above all else, choose to trust Christ. For it is through trusting Him that we walk into the fullness of everything He has prepared for us, to the praise of His glory.
