The Digital Shadow: When Reels Replace Revelation
We live in a time when people feel more alone than ever. Not necessarily in every church or community—but across the world, something is shifting. There’s a heaviness, a quiet ache in people’s hearts. A question rising deep within: “Why isn’t God speaking to me?”
And here’s what I sense: It’s not that God isn’t speaking—it’s that we can’t hear Him. Our minds are cluttered. Our souls are overstimulated. And we’ve traded one form of numbing for another.
Numbing the Soul in a New Way
Today, instead of alcohol, we numb ourselves with:
Reels
Shorts
Clips
Laughter without substance
Even Christian content—yes, even ministers’ clips—can become an escape if we’re just consuming them to avoid dealing with what God is speaking to us.
It’s easier to hear someone else say the thing God wants you to say. It’s safer to scroll than to sit still. It feels more comfortable to laugh than to weep before the Lord.
But deep down, we know—we’re not just being entertained. We’re being distracted. We’re silencing the very voice we claim to long for.
The Shadow of Technology
Technology isn’t evil. In fact, it's one of the greatest tools God can use for good. But it's also one of the greatest weapons the enemy uses for distraction.
So the question is: How are you using it? Is it drawing you closer to God—or pulling you away?
Even kids are caught in it. Hours a day… not hearing what God wants to say. And let’s be honest—us adults aren't much different.
We get stuck in this cycle of scrolling instead of seeking. Clicking instead of connecting. We’re so full of input that there’s no room left for His voice.
You Don’t Have to Stay Silent
This message might not be for everyone, but it’s for someone. Someone who’s wondering, “Can I trust anyone with my story?” Someone who’s been hurt before. Someone who’s saying, “I want freedom… but I don’t know if I can go there again.”
Listen—don’t let your last painful experience stop you from your breakthrough today. Don’t be a bystander to your own freedom. Have you ever just watched others get free and thought, “Wow, they’re so successful,” or, “They’re so blessed—I wish I could be like that”?
But here's the truth: Freedom is not just for them. It's for you.
God is not a respecter of persons. Most people walking in freedom today have gone through fire to get there. They chose to engage. They chose to forgive. They chose to listen when God called.
And they’re not stingy with their victories. They may not give you money or fame, but many will gladly give you a roadmap—if you’re willing to walk it.
What Will You Do With It?
So what do we do with the distractions? What do we do with technology?
We redeem it. We use it wisely. We let it point us to God, not pull us away from Him.
Today, unclutter your mind. Let the noise fall away. Let the scrolling stop.
And hear the still, small voice of the One who’s been speaking all along.
